Victorious in 1982, the Porsche 956 LH took over again in '83 and '84, where it allowed a Frenchman, Henri Perscarolo, to triumph at home: a first for Porsche. It wasn't until 1998 that another Frenchman (Pierre-Henri Raphanel) won the 24 Hours of Le Mans at the wheel of a Porsche.
At the controls of the Porsche 956LH Henri Pescarolo (fourth and last victory at Le Mans) and Klaus Ludwig (second victory at Le Mans) were victorious in the 52 edition of the 24h of Le Mans. The Porsche 956 is already an icon in racing history. The Porsche 956 raced from 1982 to 1986. It had an aluminum monocoque chassis and a six-cylinder boxer engine that delivered a maximum power of 640 hp.
